My name is NGUYEN Canh Tien Trinh – such a very long and complicated name (as nobody can pronounce my name correctly). I have had a chance to join and “submerge in science” since 2011 when I started my PhD in Department of Geography, NUS. Everything in NUS is different from my country-Vietnam and, fortunately, I love my work here!
My PhD concerns trace metals and their behaviour/distribution in swamp forest and that’s why my study site is located at Nee Soon – the only last freshwater swamp forest in Singapore. Understanding past and recent environmental conditions of Nee Soon is important for preservation of its value in future. By using fieldwork data collection and geochemical/geospatial techniques, hopefully I can uncover Nee Soon’s characteristics as long as freshwater swamp behaviours in a broad sense.
I love photography and spending weekend with my family.
